GU14 Viking Cup 1999

Three excellent Crossfire players in one picture.   Kat Coulombe joined us (for stylistic and social reasons) a month after this game.   Sarah Martinez was an outstanding, always dangerous attacker for Crossfire for many years, and is already a star at SPU.   Amy James had fantastic skills, touch, and creativity, and was one of the top midfielders in the state for many years.   (She guested for the Parrots more times than any other player.)  Crossfire was amazing consistent, making it to the State Cup semifinals (or farther) every year for the seven years of their existence although they had no players or coaches who survived on the team over that time.  (Sarah dropped to her own age level as a U18.)   At this time the legendary Bernie James, Amy's father, was in his third of five years of coaching them.

For years Clara was our throw-in specialist as she could throw the ball twice as far as anyone else on our team.

Whitney Talbot of the Fusion was one of the dominant players in the NW at that time.   Where did she vanish to?

Notice the powerful legs of the U14 Parrots.   We were running an experiment to see if fitness could be developed purely through working on soccer.
I missed Jeff (barefoot) after he switched teams after U15.    He was one of my favorites of many great coaches at our age level.
